After graduating from a local Lincoln high school, I was hesitant to spend another four years of my life in the same town where I was born and raised. There was a nagging, perpetual fear in my mind that college would be like high school all over again. I worried that I had wasted my opportunity to maximize my first real independence and missed my chance to “get out” and explore somewhere new. However, when I joined Alpha Phi, that outlook was turned completely upside-down.I instantly met and befriended new sisters from every corner of the country and was exposed to thrilling new opportunities and organizations that truly did provide me with a fresh start. Because of Alpha Phi and the women who are a part of it, I immediately realized that my four years at UNL would be just as exciting and adventurous as if I would have attended school far away. I also know for certain that without Alpha Phi, I would be lacking the support system of nearly 160 individuals who have greatly impacted and shaped me into the person I have become. I could not be more thankful to be a part of a house that has provided me with a college experience as extraordinary as this.
